Dopo la partita, Roberto Mancini è scoppiato a piangere e ha abbracciato Luca Vialli. Poi ha parlato, commosso, a RaiSport: "Siamo stati bravi. Siamo stati bravi. Abbiamo preso il gol subito, siamo andati in difficoltà ma poi abbiamo dominato la partita. I ragazzi sono stati meravigliosi. La vittoria è importante per tutta la gente e per tutti i tifosi. Vinto giocando bene, siamo contenti di questo. Spero che tutta Italia festeggi".
